Directory of Storytellers
To be listed on our directory, storytellers must be members of the guild and pay $10.00. We are not recommending these tellers, this merely serves as a data source to find storytellers. Every teller has his or her unique style, abilities, and repertoire.
Check out their websites where available, speak to them, and ask others their opinions. Some of these tellers may be booked to teach workshops, in-services and special topic programs to educators, church groups or anyone interested in learning more about storytelling. Contact tellers directly for bookings and /or information. Fees vary and must be negotiated with individual tellers.

Scott Hill Bumgardner is a retired Houston cop, a real estate consultant, a rancher, and a life long story spinner. He really came into his storytelling self while recovering from a horse induced injury. He turned his imagination loose and began writing poems and tales. Over the years he has become a very polished performer of fun folksy tales. Mary & Neil Early (Stories & More!) came to Texas from Louisiana. Both have extensive experience in the teaching professions and ministry. They offer a wide variety of programs from Storytelling to Puppetry and Creative Drama. They work with all ages from the very young to the Chronologically Gifted. Their programs are generally inclusive and multi-cultural in intent. Mary and Neil are teachers as well as performers. Both have received numerous honors for their performance work as well as for their work in community building. They are available for travel anywhere in the world – or out of the world. Dan Gordon (a.k.a. “Dante, a teller of tales”) has been inspiring listeners of all ages for over 30 years. He evokes smiles, tears, laughter and song – often within the same story! He specializes in Jewish folklore and also shares stories from various traditions as well as his own creations. Personal anecdotes about his experiences are particularly captivating. Hank Roubicek, or "Dr. R.," as he is affectionately known to his students, is a Professor of Communication Studies at the University of Houston Downtown. An award winning teacher, Hank's workshops on crafting personal narratives are nationally renowned. As a teller, his children's stories which focus on family issues are potent, and his narratives about personal struggle are reviewed as engaging and poignant. Hank received his B.A. from Ohio State, M.A. from Purdue, and Doctorate in Education from the University of Maryland. |
